Follow-up Comment #21:

Following what Dmitri wrote in comment #12, I tried to avoid using pipes or
redirecting stdout in the printing toolchain.

With the attached changes, printing to .emf (or .fig) files on Windows 10 with
Octave 6.4 works for me using the commands from comment #0.

Is that change ok on all platforms?
