For some reason, the userid was banned I guess. :)
Anyway, new userid works now.

Here is what I tried:
 Thunderbird works fine
 Pan 0.14.2.91 works fine
 Pan CVS fails all the time, 
   except for what looks like non-reg'd groups
   I have an older version from Nov, will try a fresher version
 Compiled newer version - mail works fine now!
