Details:
These high-level scripts must not assume GNU Bash. Currently they do (by
starting with the `!#/bin/bash' hashbang) because I haven't had time to test
them on a POSIX-only shell. But we should find a way to test the template in a
POSIX-only shell and remove all the Bash features.
Early in the configuration of the project we build GNU Bash and higher-level
steps can safely assume GNU Bash, but not these two scripts.
