A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden

D. S. Blais <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: BitBucket Source Control Management Syst
System name: bitbucket
Type: GNU

Description:
BitBucket shall be a free (GPL\'d), complete, and proactive replacement for the
proprietary Bitkeeper(tm) (http://www.bitkeeper.com) Source Control Management
(SCM) software.

By being free it will address the important concerns that Mr. Richard Stallman
(rms) and others have raised about the usage of Bitkeeper to develop free
software and will encourage solidarity towards the crucial ideology of free
software.

By being complete it will answer the call for specific features that are
missing from CVS and other free SCM software and which are allegedly the
principal reason why Bitkeeper is being currently used by Linus Torvalds in the
development of the Linux kernel.

By being proactive it will seek to not only comprehensively replace
Bitkeeper\'s functionality, but it will also go beyond said functionality
through innovation, improvement, and developer freedom.

BitBucket will take up the challenge that has been raised to create a free
alternative to Bitkeeper and continue the defeat of proprietary software
packages by adhering to the virtue and compassion implicit in the goals of GNU.

Other Software Required:
BitBucket is written in C with GCC extensions using functions from the GNU C
Library. Testing on GNU/Linux, GNU/HURD and the free sofware BSDs would be
ideal. Recommended software for developers is GNU/Linux 2.2 or higher, GLIBC
2.2.x or higher, and GCC 2.95 or higher.

Other Comments:
Please DO NOT USE BITKEEPER in any way to develop BitBucket. The current
Bitkeeper license for \"free\" use restricts developers from working on any
compitetor to Bitkeeper. Furthermore, please do not try to reverse engineer
Bitkeeper by looking at the Bitkeeper software package per se. Rather, let\'s
understand what it does in a functional sense by examining the documentation
freely available and then implement it through our own inventions. Thank you
and GNU.
