Thanks for the patch, this should be very useful.

For some reason I'm getting an error when running configure:

  % git clone git://
  % cd /screen/src
  % cp ~/number_of_windows.patch .
  % patch -i number_of_windows.patch
  patching file extern.h
  patching file process.c
  Hunk #1 succeeded at 5342 (offset 25 lines).
  patching file screen.c
  % autoconf
  % ./configure
  config.status: error: cannot find input file:
