First of all, excuse my late response. I was busy with other things.

It *is* possible to set the language parameter of the Generic output
module that we use for Dectalk. However, the current dectalk
configureation file for the module doesn't support it (it isn't
implemented) because Jacob, who was writing the module, is an English
native speaker.

So, switching languages should be quite trivial, but I currently don't
know how to do it because I don't have a Dectalk software synthesizer
on my machine (it's proprietary after all). Could you plese tell me
how does one set a different language with the "say" line client
that is provided with DecTalk? I might then tell you what you have
to change in the configuration file.

Or does Jacob know something about it?
