Put the patchfile in the directory with the source file to be patched, type
"patch <patchfile", and recompile as necessary.  Type "man patch" for full
info.  Don't feel bad about not knowing it -- Unix is to a large extent an
arcane lore passed on from one programmer to another.  I have no idea
whether that has anything to do with your problem, since I didn't do any of
the installation work here.  (Rick...? :)
