I don't know why the application would freeze outside of GDB, but
the version of GDB distributed with Swarm 2.1.1 doesn't work right on
W2K. ftp://ftp.swarm.org/pub/swarm/binaries/w32/latest/gdb5.exe.gz is
a newer version that does work. gunzip it and put it in /Swarm-2.1.1/bin.
