SLIDESHOW STYLE DESIGN CONTEST

* Introduction

Today I was preparing an slideshow using TeXmacs and I found that it's quite
difficult to do a nice one. It looks good but boring.

TeXmacs is a great scientific word processor and I firmly believe that it
could be the ultimate slideshow tool. There is only one problem, there are no
eye-catching designs ready to be used. Frankly the one available (seminar) is
too simple.

I could try to design a good looking style but I am not an artistic oriented
person. My taste choosing fonts and colours is quite untasteful. So, I
decided to do this contest.

* Prize

The winner will win 30 €. I have thought two ways to give the prize:

a) The winner looks for a CD, DVD or book in an Internet shop (like play.com
or amazon) and I'll buy the item (the 30 € should include the p&p). The shop
will send the prize directly. It's a great way to have that movie or disc you
wanted but you never remember to buy.

b) The old money-in-an-envelope: The winner sends me his or her address and
I'll send the money in a letter.

* Rules

An original slideshow style for TeXmacs must be designed. To participate you
must send me (address@hidden) before December 21st, 2004:

1. The style file
2. An step by step guide explaining how to install the style and how to use it
3. An simplified alternate version of the style. This style will be used to
print the slideshow without spending a whole ink cartridge
4. A short slideshow made using the style in .tm format and pdf
5. All the required files to use the style, if needed

A participant can send as many designs as he or she wants.

I will select the winner (because I am the one who puts the money ;-). I will
provide a webpage where all the styles will be available to download for a
year.

The particpants must let the styles and the rest of the files be freely used,
distributed and manipulated. Maybe they can be GPL'd but I am not a license
expert, so the participants can select their favourite license.

* Notes

This contest is not connected to Joris or to www.texmacs.org in any way. It's
up to Joris to include the styles in future TeXmacs releases or in the
TeXmacs website.

I can't write good English. If you don't understand anything, please send me
privately a message and I'll try to make myself clear.

It's the first time I write the rules of a contest, so be tolerant.

Yours,

Javier
