suggestions for the variable name and the subject welcome.
I suggest to rename `prototype-error' to `catch-error-proto' or to
`mail-error-proto'. This will make the macro invokation a bit more
readable, e.g.:
$(mail-error-proto) $(MAKE-PROTOTYPE) --home ...
Also, shouldn't we introduce a new variable for "./mailfail"?
As a side note -- I think there's a certain flaw in the way the
check-po command is run. It shouldn't be in the rules that update
the PO files, but in the rules that generate .LANG.html.
Hm, I see your point but the solution is not so obvious to me. No doubt
that a PO-file may be changed manually by a human, but also it can be
changed automatically by the update rules. So why not run check-po on
both cases?
