This is probably the exact adapter I'm having trouble with. Picture:

http://www.elfa.se/elfa-bin/setpage.pl?http://www.elfa.se/elfa/ produkter/en/6121.htm

This is a sample command you might want to look at:

/usr/local/bin/uisp -dprog=avr910 -dserial=/dev/cu.usbserial0 -dpart=auto --erase --upload --verify if=rom.hex

You might want to change -dprog if you don't have that kind of external hardware. /dev/cu.usbserial0 is the default location of the serial port. Check out this:

/usr/local/bin/uisp

My problem with this adapter is that I have to reinsert it between every programming. When programming from AVR Studio in Virtual PC though, it works! And the usb-serial adapter is NOT taken over by VPC at the USB level, but only at the serial port level (COM1 is redirected to /dev/cu.usbserial0).

If anyone happens to know the chipset of the Aten adapter, I would like to know.

Hello,

I am trying to programm an atmel microcontrolleur (atmega 8535) with
uisp on mac os 10.3. As I don't have a serial port, I bought an
adapter, but it doesn't seem to work. I know that the same question was
already asked, but I didn't understand what I should do, and if it was
finally possible to use an adapter with uisp. Which command do I have
to enter? Is there something to configure?
My adapter is from "Aten", and I installed the drivers for mac os x.
Thank you in advance.

Simon

What are you using as a programmer (stk500, avrisp, etc)?
Is Aten a programmer or a usb-to-rs232 convertor? I've never heard of
that one.

From what I've heard on the various mailing lists, not all usb-to-rs232
convertors work with uisp, but people have had success.

Would probably help to see a dump of the output with the '-v=4' option.
