in addition to the already mentioned projects in my last post to this
list, the java based GUI and the python based GUI, there are a few other
projects aiming to provide a GUI to the vcdimager xml interface:
GUI projects so far (the 2 already mentioned ones first):
? - java based
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
state: developers are organizing, CVS repository to get online soon,
officially supported since GPL'ed
? - python/gtk based
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
state: two developers are going to put something together and will report
back when they have something to show
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
VCDImagerGUI - C++/win32 based
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
state: public domain w/ source available, discontinued
features: just the features vcdimager 0.6.2 allowed, no XML and no PBC
URL: http://www.vcdhelp.com/vcdimagergui.htm
VCD2XML - ?
~~~~~~~~~~~
state: available, no source, little news lately
features: simple XML generator GUI for creating common intro/menu/tracks
template
URL: http://home.cinci.rr.com/mhill/vcd2xml.jpg
VCDImager Easy - delphi based
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
state: available, no source due to use of proprietary library, may be
reimplemented in order to make source available
features: vcdxgen based generation of XML for all command-line settable
parameters, migrating towards creating XML data w/o vcdxgen
URL: http://www.vcdhelp.com/vcdimagereasy.htm
TSCV - delphi based
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
state: available, no source (reason unknown)
features: XML based generation of chapters, setting options,
intro/main-menu/main tracks PBC template...
URL: http://www.ttool.de/anleitungen/tscve.htm
well that's so far the list of known GUIs; most developers should be
subscribed to this list by now;
It's surely not a good thing if we end up with several GUIs all doing
just a subset of the full potential of vcdimager...
IMHO those GUIs which share the same development environment should try to
unite forces instead of wasting energy competing with each other; actually
this concerns only the two delphi based ones, but another java based GUI
project was mentioned in this list, which might create a similiar
situation...
summarizing, we have 3 GUI groups (not counting the abandoned ones),
*) the delphi based one which is available already (!), but for win32 only
*) the java based project with has no release ready so far
*) the python based project, like the java based one no rls so far
that's all for now...
regards,
