Many thanks for testing and finding the culprit.  I admit that I also
tried the official GS from ghostscript.com and while I had adjusted my
$PATH and `preview-gs-command', I missed to set
`preview-pdf2dsc-command' to:

    (setq preview-pdf2dsc-command "pdf2dsc.bat %(O?pdf) %m/preview.dsc")

Hence pdf2dsc.exe from TL was taken.  Using pdf2dsc.bat runs indeed
without problems.

I try to drop a line to TL mailing list next week.
