Two copies of the same file in the same repository would be a
maintenance hassle.
I don't see the hassle. I proposed the gpl versions be autogenerated
from the lgpl ones, obviously not two separate sources that had to be
updated manually.
a --lgpl option to gnulib-tool would be a fine way to implement it.
Well, I'm ok with that since I'll never use it. So if you're happy with
it, then fine.
It also seems technically illegal, but I don't mind if no one else does,
I think it's all a pretty pointless distinction for these files.
FYI, there is a simple sed script in gnulib/config/srclist-util that
changes a license to gpl. You could adapt the other way.
