I would urge you (and other veteran Emacs users) to report any
annoying change as a bug the first time you see it.  It will certainly
make sure the maintainers are aware of the issue and will pay
attention to it in the future.  Thus, a succession of such changes
will be probably cut short much sooner, before it gathers too many
changes and too many people who like them.
