move-to-column could be made to do what line-move-to-column now does.
I am not sure that is a good idea, because I am not sure it is a clean
general solution to what to move-to-column ought to do with invisible
   text.

Is it a good idea for `line-move-to-column' _itself_ to do what it
currently does? Is the behavior I described a bug or a subtlety?

There is a reason why I am hammering on `line-move-to-column'.
`line-move' uses (through `line-move-finish') `line-move-to-column'
and not `move-to-column'. `line-move-to-column' and not
`move-to-column' determines what C-n and C-p do in the presence of
invisible and/or intangible text.

Sincerely,

Luc.
