I understand your argument, but I'm not sure I fully agree.  In any
case, it's not something I want to spend time on.  If you or anyone else
wants to implement it, I don't mind integrating it (as far as Texinfo
goes; I can't speak for Emacs).  Anyway, I'll put it on the todo list
for future reference.
