StatNews is a Perl script that outputs some useful statistics out of a 
newsgroup (actually, out of anything stored in traditional one file per message 
fashion).

It\'s included in Debian GNU/Linux since 1998, and, AFAIK, there are quite some 
people out there using it on Usenet, as well as other people using it on 
FidoNet, or for personal / mailing-list use.

You may find it on any Debian mirror (package name: statnews).
