    No change was made until yesterday.

Something must have changed a few days ago, because this problem never
happened before.  If there was no change in log_accum, perhaps it was
in the other code that runs log_accum.

    However, I did fix the temporary files deletion yesterday; failing to
    clean-up those files may have caused the spurious messages you
    received on a random basis.

This is a serious problem, but if it doesn't fail again, we can stop
worrying about it.

If it does fail again, please add logging code to log_accum, as I
suggested yesterday; that way, next time this fails, we will learn a
lot more about the cause.
