RE: [avr-gcc-list] ATMega reset and brown-out reliability

I don't know about production use, but I made a small robot where the
motors were driven from the same 9v battery as the CPU (run through a
regulator). I was using a Mega-16. If I had an external 4.5v reset
circuit, then the reset would trigger when I turned both motors on. When
I removed the external reset detector and set the BOD to 2.? then I
could drive both motors and no reset problems.

Just a sample of 1.

Does anyone have any bad experiences with the reset and/or brown-out

detector on the ATMegas? I'd like to eliminate the external reset
generator that I traditionally used with the non-Mega parts. All my
previous Mega designs have used the same reset generator since I knew it

was a trusted solution, and volume wasn't high enough to be concerned
about the cost. Now, I'd like to save the money and the little bit of
board space on this design.
