yup.  I'm currently on road with my parents-in-law so I can't do as
much as I would want right now.  I looked at the toplevel configure
and build machinery last night and we can definitely improve things 
here :-)  

I'm curiious of why gmake, gtar and gpatch are required on solaris
boxes.  

I'm also curious as to what extent the autoconf/automake machinery
will blend with Axiom's pamplet style.
