[Bug-tar] Is --listed-incremental needed when restoring a full backup?

If you run a full backup like this:

  rm foo.snap
  tar czpSf foo.tgz --listed-incremental=foo.snap

and then later just want to restore just that one full backup, is it
OK to do this:

  tar xzpSf foo.tgz

or do you need to keep the foo.snap file around and specify
--listed-incremental=foo.snap during the extract?

Thanks, and if possible, please CC me in any replies as I'm not
currently subscribed to the list.
