[Discuss-gnuradio] The implant defence?

As RF and signal processing devices shrink to ever smaller dimensions one can see a time ahead when SDR-type systems (or critical subsystems) will reach the chip size and be implant candidates. When combined with malleable brain techniques now under development, they could serve to extend the range of human acuity in the electromagnetic spectrum. What will be the position of Congress and the Courts when these capabilities are no longer contained within appliances but are integrated into our bodies? Besides banning their manufacture or import, will they order their surgical removal? What limits to sensory and other functional extensions will be sought? Enforceable?

Shades of William Gibson. HeadGuns anyone?

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the Public Treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the Public Treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy always followed by dictatorship." --Alexander Fraser Tyler
