And in those case, glob2 already runs fast. And it would require implementing locking everywhere.

That depends on your model, if the "compute" and the "display" threads live there own lives. The display thread would only need access to a common "changed" queue that is semaphore locked.

I also dislike code that have semaphore locks for every second line of code, it is simply too complicated :-)

Yes, it is feasible. No we won't do it until further notice ;-)
