At the time I was planning on submitting the whitespace patches, most of
the stuff "out there" was already merged.  As part of the process, I did
some checks, and there were very few significant conflicts in other
trees. 

At this point, obviously at this point, the whitespace patch is
withdrawn, since its useless outside of the context of 1.2.3rc1

It was a perfect sweet spot in development where it could have
been pulled off relatively painlessly.
