I also noticed he had done that, but on Octave 2.1.71, this is what I get:
octave:32> x=zeros(1:180,1:180);
octave:33> size(x)
ans =
1 1
octave:34> x
x = 0
So I don't see a lot of dimensions. Same with an old Octave version.
