So yes, Gitorious code is GPL, and Gitlab code is X11. That means
Gitlab has no interest in using Gitorious code, and they simply will

If there is a vested interest in GPL-izing Gitlab code, it should be
discussed with them. The choice of the X11 license was made because the
whole stack is distributed under that license. If and when Gitlab
becomes evil, forking will be as easy then as it is now.

What do you think you're trying to protect by wasting your time on
something that's already free?

Another "solution" I've seen is to migrate to Gogs.io. How is Gogs.io
freer than Gitlab? They use the same license, except the code base is
built on top of Google's Go language instead of Mats' Ruby.

I think the Gitorious founders should speak publicly about this--in a
less terse way than in Gitlab's press release, because the paranoia is
getting out of proportion IMO.
