What about the w32 users that use --prefix=C:/mingw and then cannot use
DESTDIR because that will not concatenate?

Also, in 'ln -sf' in the testsuite addition, the -f is non-portable
to Solaris, and for DJGPP (cough) it would even need $(LN_S) but let's
ignore that for now.
