What would happen for computers without latex?  Or are you
suggesting we should distribute latex (or just tex) along with
everything else in the lilypond app (python, guile, etc) ?

With the possible exception of the font commands for markup or
things like the current date and time, I don't think that lilypond
output should depend on the computer.
