Admittedly, I haven’t spent much time thinking about the deeper implications of 
it :)

I just sent a note to GitHub support, if they can drive this from their end it 
would raise awareness more quickly. People who can enable SSL for themselves 
probably already do so, I think it’s the large providers that can make the most 
impact.
