The philosophy behind the SDL ui module was making everything fit into a
640x480 window, so it could run on older systems, and (resolution
permitting) on PDAs. It was never going to be the only ui module, but
the wxWindows/wxPython one hasn't had any work on it since Ryoko left.
Overlaying is what is happening right now - like the text console. I
plan to write a couple of simple widgets for the sobjects which I can
also use for other things - but that is some time in the future with
university commitments. You could always try your hand at some of those.
