Just out of curiousity, how were the following documents lacking?

Had the instructions in the first link been followed, neither one of
you would have had a problem.

If these docs are incorrect or incomplete, please tell us (or better
yet, send patches with improvements) so that we can make them better.

[Just noticed that the avarice notes in the first link are a bit
dated. I'll update those today.]

[BTW: we know that the order of the information in the avr-libc manual
sucks. This is a deficiency in the tool we use to generate the docs
and I'm looking into ways to fix this, but that will take some time
which I seem to have a shortage of.]
