I would recommend using one of the new SD WIFI cards.  They can be accessed in 
SPI mode and most AVRs have hardware support for SPI.  With SPI, you will use 
up substantially fewer lines, and the software should be easier too.  The SD 
WIFI card I know of is made by SanDisk.
