If I made the master project by using Nautilus and copying the current edit copy to become the master project, would that mean that some setting would get copied and both would be related to the repository? 

OK, your comment led me to the answer. I never manually set up a remote repository for the master project. But when I did Preferences > Remote Repository, I found that there was a check mark there on the second screen that says "use remote repository." So some setting must have been copied when I copied the file. I have removed that check mark and anticipate that this will fix the problem!

project, and for the editing project. Do both of these point to the same
