That's an FTP-to-HTTP gateway.  Ange-ftp doesn't do HTTP, only FTP.

Wget and lynx are primarily HTTP clients, although they will do FTP if
necessary.


For ange-ftp you would need a real FTP-to-FTP proxy. 

For HTTP you can look at W3 or emacs-w3m.
