I just received the message about the release of LibreJS 7.16. It has the same (sad) problem I have seen before: it is only compatible with Firefox 60+.

This is *very very bad* because I use Firefox ESR 52, a browser version that is *officially* supported by Debian 9 (at least) until the end of this year. Further, the newers Firefox normal versions have changes that several users - including myself - find very unwelcome. After ESR 52 is not supported anymore, I will do one of: just keep using it; change to a secure browser project based on the Firefox me (and other users) find better (I can name a few of these projects, if you need); change to a completely different browser.

Please make LibreJS free-er, by not to locking users in a browser that has been questioned in some aspects and big changes and choices.

There are addons that are compatible with practically all versions of Firefox! It would be great if an addon that can give so many benefits to users - and to the virtual life, in general - would not be so hard to be used.

The source tarball for this release can be found at:

The installable extension file (compatible with Mozilla-based browsers
version >= v60) is available here:

The main improvement in version 7.16.0 is the implementation of
WebLabels (https://www.fsf.org/blogs/licensing/rel-jslicense), which was
the remaining missing feature since LibreJS got reimplemented using the
WebExtensions format. On top of that, multiple bugfixes and performance
improvements were added. All contributions thanks to Giorgio Maone.

Changes since version 7.15 (excerpt from the git changelog):

Fixes missing feedback for actions on the report UI when in a tab.
Fixes missing feedback on tab reload from UI panel.
Refactored HTML loading, parsing and serialization mechanisms.
Moved external licenses check into response pre-processing
  WebLabels-based license checking implementation.
Fix Back/forth navigation not changing tab status information
