update.. it occured to me that makbe I needed to do a 'dwrite' to change
the default backend from 'xgps' to 'back' - having done that I
now get a coredump.

The 'back' package was configured with the defaults - which is xgps I
assume - as I wanted to find out how to use this 'out of the box' so
to speak.
