Hello
when installing GNUstep into a non-standard location, I found a
somewhat misleading behaviour.
In the GNUstep-HOWTO, the GNUSTEP_SYSTEM_ROOT shell variable is
described as having precedence before the --prefix configure flag. Good
idea.
Trying out, I do
export GNUSTEP_SYSTEM_ROOT=/opt/bla
./configure
configure (and a later installation) shows this:
...
checking for GNUSTEP_SYSTEM_ROOT to use... /opt/bla/System
checking for GNUSTEP_LOCAL_ROOT to use... /opt/bla/Local
checking for GNUSTEP_NETWORK_ROOT to use... /opt/bla/Local
...
GNUSTEP_SYSTEM_ROOT changed !?!.
IMHO, GNUSTEP_ROOT should be used as a counterpart for the --prefix
flag, instead.
Changes would be limited to configure its self. The meaning of all
variables would stay the same during configuration, installation and
use of GNUstep.
