A typical case for an expert mode, right? Put a bunch of modifiers  
into the code, bundle them into three or four choices in user visible  
preferences. Experts will have to do a few extra clicks an to wade  
through an longer list.

Problematic are people like me, which prefer simple interfaces but  
want to understand all available choices as well.
