And, in fact, the problem does *not* happen in the Unicode branch. But
the weird thing is:
ELISP> (read-key-sequence "") ; ยบ

so either read-key-sequence fails there, or Stefan was wrong about it
working right on the trunk (where it returns [2234])... Or I just
don't understand anything anymore :-)
