According to what you've said before, instead of
those functions being named `text', `lazyText',
`bytes', `lazyBytes', `charToByte', and
`byteToChar' they should be named `string-text',
`string-lazyText', `string-bytes',
`string-lazyBytes', `string-charToByte',
and `string-byteToChar'.
