I apologize if it came out like this.

I’m not trying to convince you that PO is better than anything. I was 
just trying to understand what you did not like about it because I was 
not seeing what you were seeing and I’ve been translating PO files for 
money (and not) for 15 years now.

I understand now that you’d prefer to work in Emacs for all the 
translation work and that PO is indeed ugly when you look at it in the 
current (almost non-existing) state of Emacs based translation tools.

That’s something that either needs to be fixed (the po-mode authors 
might want to investigate better ways to display information) or 
ignored if Emacs/TexInfo decide to develop something different.

If for now we agree that having a location to put the translated texi 
files is a huge step forward, I’m sure that little by little teams will 
find ways to handle the translation process and provide emacs with fine 
translations.
