Mostly my answer is: please join the Pika mailing list

~ a "short listing" of "fundamental differences" would be

~ compatability with Guile at Scheme or C levels is not a huge
concern. Pika will be an R5RS Scheme, and we'll go from there.

~ at the same time, it is hard to diverge so far from Guile that
either Scheme or C compatability would be impossible or even
horribly difficult to achieve. (Diverging that far is also
    not a goal.)
