But I care about all the systemd complaints.

Way too late to apply such a big patch that is much more tham just
systemd.  After release is fine.

A few very focused patches, would be OK.  Something like invoking
hardening scares me no matter when applied.  Everywhere I see people
try hardeneing it causes much pain requiring months of testing.
