a little history to explain john's note. We don't to have the DNS here at 
UNC if that's a show stopper, but our experience with distant nameservers 
has not been good. we're still having problems coordinating with 
linuxdoc.org as Guylhem will testify -- and that primary server is on a 
DSL line. we do need -- rarely -- to move machines and we do have a very 
very fast internet and internet2 connection for both our servers and the 
campus DNS. the campus folks are easy to deal with (not all campuses are 
so lucky) and very responsive. still if the fsf needs or feels it should 
have dns control then that's fine too.
