Hmm. I think this ties in with the (long-standing) request for adding a 
logging facility. Of course, there is still the question why you could not 
connect to any other host (behind NAT? firewall?).

Are you aware of the gnunet-stats program? This one already gives quite a bit 
of information in terms of what is happening.
