User-agent: Mozilla Thunderbird 0.7.1 (Windows/20040626)

I made the tests:

1. purge c:\cygwin
2. install old lilypond-2.4.2-1 with default settings - OK (this is the test that that makes many user problem inexplicable)
3. install lilypond-2.4.3-1 (built against tetex-2.0) - OK
4. install tetex-3.0.0-1

   Invoking `latex \\nonstopmode \\input 1.tex'...
   This is pdfeTeXk, Version 3.141592-1.21a-2.2 (Web2C 7.5.4)
    file:line:error style messages enabled.
    %&-line parsing enabled.
   (Fatal format file error; I'm stymied)

   Root cause:
      During install format files are created in /var/lib/texmf/web2c
During uninstall of tetex-2.0 they are not purged from /usr/share/texmf/web2c, so they are before /var/lib/texmf/web2c in the search path.

$ kpsepath fmt

      purge texmf/web2c/*.{base,fmt,emft} during tetex-2.0 uninstall

   ec-fonts are not found
Solution: updmap --enable Map=/usr/share/texmf/dvips/ec-fonts-mftraced/ I'm not sure how to overcome this in the packages, because upgrading tetex will make it forget ec-fonts. But perhaps the new ec-fonts will solve it, because it installs the map file into the 'right' place. So the problem arises when ec-fonts-mftraced is installed prior to tetex-3.0

5. I've accidentally deleted lilypond-2.4.3 archive built against tetex-3.0, but that's been already tested.
