That just changes the angle of the line, so you'll still be left with a gap.
Try overriding 'padding instead:

\once \override Glissando #'(bound-details right padding) = 0
c\glissando
\hideNotes
\once \override Glissando #'(bound-details left padding) = 0

\glissando
\unHideNotes
c,
