graphics in pdf

Hello out there,

I had the graphics-&-diagrams-problem concerning PDF-files pointed out
in the users manual p.89.  The diagrams work well for PS-files, but no
result for PDF.

Does anyone know a converting program like a "ps2pdf" for Linux?  ---
I'm using debian potato 2.2 and consider upgrading to woody 3.0.
