Follow-up Comment #23:

While going through the changes, I found I few symbols that haven't been
marked for export/import yet.
With those added, the test suite passes on Linux and Windows. So I
reconsidered again and pushed the changes to the default branch.
Probably to many to list them all here.

I didn't go meticulously through every single line of code. So it is likely
that there are some symbols missing still. But it is probably good enough for
